The Presentation Layer

The Presentation band gets its name from its purpose: It presents abstracts to the Application layer
and is amenable for abstracts adaptation and cipher formatting.
This band is about a translator and provides coding and about-face functions. A successful
data-transfer address is to acclimate the abstracts into a accepted architecture afore transmission.
Computers are configured to accept this generically formatted abstracts and again catechumen the data
back into its built-in architecture for absolute account (for example, EBCDIC to ASCII). By providing
translation services, the Presentation band ensures that abstracts transferred from the Application
layer of one arrangement can be apprehend by the Application band of addition one.
The OSI has agreement standards that ascertain how accepted abstracts should be formatted. Tasks
like abstracts compression, decompression, encryption, and decryption are associated with this
layer. Some Presentation band standards are complex in multimedia operations too.
